Holding space… is based on safety, respect and unconditional love
Environmentally, as a Death Doula, we prepare the physical space to maximize or minimize visibility depending on the intention of the individual in care. This is a preference, and is a skill that is trained through certification.
Holding space is also ethereal; a delicate way of witnessing the individual without judgement, together we affirm or release
Both processes delivered with the purpose of the individual in mind;
so that they know they are seen
so they know that they are heard
so they know that they feel grace
Each journey is unique… so holding space is a learned art, just like Feng Shui or interior decorating. The arrangement of the physical space to maximize the aesthetics of the journey. Holding space for intentions that is also a learned art and based experiences. Creating time for response, listening, hearing and remembering.
Holding Space is a central practice of a Death Doula
